►︎ OUR STORY

Collectif Mongrenier is an intergenerational, multinational co-living project whose values are deeply rooted in our connection to nature. We are a working farm with sheep, fruit and nut trees and a permaculture garden which provides most of our fruit and vegetables.

In 2015, driven by a desire to counter isolation and build intergenerational connection, our founders envisioned a vibrant community rooted in cooperation and shared purpose. What began as local gatherings in Switzerland grew into a committed group that eventually found its home in southern France.

After an inspiring journey of growth, search, and shared vision, we established ourselves at the Mongrenier estate in December 2017—laying the foundation for a new way of living together.

►︎ VALUES & VISION

With a shared vision of ecological harmony and sustainable living, we a re dedicated to permaculture, organic farming, and the restoration of local biodiversity. By integrating regenerative agricultural practices with nature-based solutions, the project is working on building a self-sustaining ecosystem that nourishes both people and the planet.

Through soil regeneration, native habitat revival, and chemical-free cultivation, the initiative not only produces healthy food but also serves as a living example of how human activity can enhance, rather than deplete, the natural world.

We do not subscribe to any kind of dogma but embody the "live and let live" approach to life. We are also a collective of artists of different kinds, offering a retreat for creative minds!

►︎ Co-living

Co-living in this place is based on shared responsibility, mutual support, and respect for both people and the land. Daily life is organized collectively, encouraging cooperation, autonomy, and a simple way of living rooted in solidarity.

This shared living model fosters meaningful human connections, intergenerational exchange, and a sense of belonging, while allowing each person to maintain their individuality within a common framework of care and respect.

It also creates space for learning, creativity, and the sharing of skills, knowledge, and experiences. Through collective decision-making and everyday collaboration, co-living becomes a living practice of trust, care, and collective resilience.

● AGRICULTURE & ACTIVITIES

This place hosts several interconnected activities, with agriculture as its main focus, giving rhythm to many of the daily tasks and seasonal cycles of the land. The agricultural activity is managed by SCEA Mongrenier, an agricultural entity founded in 2018 that oversees 70 hectares of land. Of these, 48 hectares are preserved oak forest, hosting rich biodiversity and abundant wildlife. The remaining 22 hectares are dedicated to certified organic agriculture. Two hectares are actively cultivated: the East Garden follows permaculture principles and is mainly dedicated to seasonal vegetables and pollinator-friendly flowers, while the South Garden hosts approximately 400 almond trees, 200 hazelnut trees, and a variety of fruit trees including kaki, figs, cherries, grapes, and mulberries, alongside several tomato varieties.

These cultivations allow for a full seasonal harvest as well as food preservation through sauces, conserves, and other preparations. The collective is largely self-sufficient and produces certified organic products that are sold to consumers and local businesses. All agricultural activities and products are certified by Ecocert. The land is also home to a small flock of Cameroon sheep (around 12–20 animals), a hardy breed well adapted to the local climate that does not require shearing.
